EL PERU COMO MIEMBRO FUNDADOR DE LAS NACIONES UNIDAS DESDE EL AÑO 1945, ASUMIO EL COMPROMISO DE CONTRIBUIR A GRANTIZAR LA PAZ MUNDIAL , ENVIANDO A LOS PRIMEROS OBSERVADORES MILITARES PERUANOS EN OPERACIONES DE PAZ EN 1985 EN LA MISION DE LAS NACIONES UNIDAS EN MLIBERIA, POSTERIOR A ELLO DE 1973 A 1975 EL “BATALLON PERÚ” PARTICIPO EN LA FUERZA DE EMERGENCIA DE LAS NACIONES UNIDAS EN EL MEDIO ORIENTE POR EL CONFLICTO ARABE ISRAELÍ, DONDE FALLECENLOS 03 PRIMEROS CASCOS AZULES PERUANOS, SIENDO DECLARADOS “HEROES INTERNACIONALES DE LA PAZ MUNDIAL.
Con Resolución Ministerial Nº 212-2013 DE/SG del 11 marzo 2013 se regulariza la creación del Centro de Entrenamiento y Capacitación para Operaciones de Paz (CECOPAZ) como órgano académico del Sector Defensa (CECOPAZ – DIGEDOC – MINDEF)
